Ottawa's own Peter Morel, President of TopShape Inc. has been chosen as the 2005 recipient of the First Lady of Taiwan International Career Award.
Peter Morel has been an advocate for health and fitness for persons with disabilities for over 10 yrs.
Born with Spina Bifida a neural tube defect Peter has devoted his life to helping person's with disabilities reap the benefits of health and fitness.
He is a well known and respected fitness professional committed to excellence in his field.
Peter's expertise has been sought by corporations, private and commercial fitness facilities and government agencies.
The programs offered at TopShape are inclusive of everyone regardless of ability. "We never turn anyone away" says Morel. "Investing in health by providing physical fitness and wellness opportunities is not an option but a necessity." "Providing physical fitness and wellness opportunities to persons with physical disabilities is not a privilege but a right."
He continues to promote an active and fit lifestyle and thru his many professional affiliations Peter is reaching more and more people everyday.
The award recognizes an individual with a disability who has attained professional excellence and recognition from their peers in their respective field.
The award was started in 1995 by Wu Shu Chen the first Lady of Taiwan who suffered a spinal cord injury in 1985.
"Receiving this award is an honor" says Morel. "Being recognized for something you love to do is fantastic".
The award/dinner is scheduled for Thursday Dec 1st the UN's International day of Disabled People at 7:00pm at the Ottawa Congress Center.

Morel does it again!

TopShape Fitness Inc. President Peter Morel is again a recipient of a prestigious award.
Morel is to be awarded the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Center Individual Achievement Award on Tuesday December 5th 2006 at the Celebration of People dinner reception at the Ottawa Congress Center.
" I can't believe this, two years in a row, the hard work is really starting to make people notice" says Morel.
"TopShape is starting to finally be recognized for the great work we do for persons with disabilities"

Peter Morel's picture will be unveiled on the Rick Hanson Wall of Fame at the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Center in March 2007.

Morel places 6th qualifies for Beijing Paralympic Games 2008
Ottawa's Peter Morel placed 6th in the A final at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich Germany. Placing sixth qualifies the position for a spot in the 2008 summer Paralympics where rowing will make it's debut as a full medal sport. "not a bad placing for the first time in an international competition but were looking for a podium spot in Beijing" says Morel, a personal trainer and managing partner of a private fitness studio in Ottawa.
